Company History

RPC has been operating for over 10 years, however, the ‘The Ruthin Works’ has existed for some 50 years, previously owned by national companies such as Tarmac and Brooklyn westbrick.

RPC was bought by local entrepreneur Alan Roberts in 1997, who has since implemented a long-term expansion programme that has seen RPC diversify into a range of new products and sectors.

The business was originally launched to service the National Water Market, manufacturing underground chambers for valve, hydrant and meter installations. These ranges were soon developed to meet the growing needs of the gas, highways and electricity industries.

As the newly formed RPC evolved, the company identified a need for revetment products, catering specifically for sea defence, flood protaection and river bank protection. A number of unique products were patented and registered designs held – the newly established Environmental division quickly became the company’s main market and the product range was strengthened and developed through the years.

A clear gap in the market soon followed – the provision of a full design, supply and installation service of the Environmental products - and 1999 saw the launch of the Contracting division. This division has grown and expanded rapidly since and now lists almost all major UK contractors and house builders among its clients, carrying a reputation for a first-class, expert bespoke service.

In 2005, RPC announced the launch of a third division focusing specifically on the domestic and commercial paving industries. RPC Paving began to manufacture traditional paving ranges as well as creating several innovative paving systems including DrivePave, distributing through leading UK-wide builders merchants.

Today, RPC is regarded as a specialist in the design, manufacture and installation of its systems and products, particularly through the well-established Contracting and Environmental divisions. RPC Paving continues to grow and evolve and has already made a significant impact upon the competitive landscaping market.

The company now employs a workforce of almost 100 people and investment in new equipment, machinery and processes ensures that the business is able to maintain its position as a leader within its field. RPC is now looking towards the future, to developing new systems and products in all three divisions and continuing to supply the best possible service to the highest standards.
