A noise atternuation barrier was specified for the new Dalston Junction Bus & Rail terminus.
As well as being able to satisfy the requirements for noise attenuation, the barrier had to prove itself aesthetically pleasing, able to blend in with the architect’s scheme and the installation had to be designed so that there were no connections into the ground slab, as this was in fact the waterproof roof structure of the railway junction hall.
As can be seen from the images the scheme also presented many problems in terms of line, level and fit, given the very large number of direction changes and levels.
The barrier is a combination of Planta Classic Attenuation and Soundstop. These were chosen in order to meet the noise alternuation brief whilst minimising the overall height of the barrier making it less imposing.
All the posts are fixed directly to the in-situ concrete walls and the barriers are carried on the base plates of the posts.
All the post tops were rounded to add a little finishing touch.
